2-1-2022 Dear Parent/Guardian, In keeping with Eastland ISD’s practices to respond to COVID-19, we are notifying all student families that a student who was lab-confirmed to have COVID-19 was present on the campus of Siebert Elementary School on Tuesday February 1, 2022. Due to privacy requirements, we will not be releasing the name of the individual or details that may identify him or her. The District is working with local health officials and we have begun a case investigation. Campus administrators have contacted any individuals determined to be in close contact with the infected individual. We will keep you apprised of further updates that may be necessary. While we do not have reason to believe that those who were not in close contact with the infected individual have reason to be concerned, we ask that you, as always, to watch for symptoms of COVID-19. Any of the following symptoms indicate a possible COVID-19 infection: • Feeling feverish or a measured temperature greater than or equal to 100.0 degrees Fahrenheit • Loss of taste or smell • Cough • Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath • Fatigue • Headache • Chills • Sore throat • Congestion or runny nose • Shaking or exaggerated shivering • Significant muscle pain or ache • Diarrhea, nausea or vomiting If you or any member of the EISD community does begin experiencing any of these symptoms in a way that is not typical, we encourage you to contact your physician. We encourage anyone in the EISD community who is lab-confirmed to have COVID-19 to please notify our school by contacting the campus administrator. Dr. Jason Cochran - Superintendent Eastland ISD

January 17, 2022 Re: Update Eastland ISD will resume classes as scheduled Tuesday, January 18, 2022. I want to apologize for any inconvenience being off today might have caused anyone. We do not take it lightly when considering closing campuses for any period of time. EISD’s passion and commitment is the safety and well being of our students. We do anticipate that we will still have several staff members out tomorrow. However, the campus administration has worked to develop plans to cover classes accordingly. Again, thank you for your patience and understanding, we look forward to seeing the kids tomorrow. As always, “It’s a GREAT day to be a Maverick!” Dr. Cochran

January 16, 2022 Re: School Closure January 17,2022 Eastland ISD will be closed Monday January 17, 2022 due to a high number of illnesses among staff, their families, and students. As well as being notified of a high number of students who are home sick, we began to evaluate the number of staff either testing positive for COVID 19, exposed, or sick with other flu like illnesses, the number not able to come to work exceeds our substitute pool and hinders ability to effectively have school. EISD will use tomorrow, as an administrative team, to develop and plan for the most appropriate in person instruction as we progress through this spike over the next couple days. The main driving factor behind the decision to close tomorrow is the number of personnel that will be out. Extracurricular activities will remain as scheduled as long as healthy staff and participants are available. If it is determined that we are still in the same situation for Tuesday we will notify parents as soon as possible. However, it is our intention to resume classes on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.
